Sony have released some interesting stats surrounding their new baby, the PS4. The UK alone has just broken the 1 million sold mark since November. While this sounds impressive as a stand-alone figure, this also makes it the fastest selling console of this generation in the UK. This, however, pales in comparison to the 10 million units they have sold worldwide so far.
Some other interesting stats include 12 million videos and 21 million images of gameplay being captured so far. Considering these stats can only realistically be tracked via the built-in capture and broadcast apps, this is quite a lofty number. It shows that creating an all-in-one experience to open up sharing of media to those without specialist equipment has really paid off.
When you consider the line-up heading into Christmas (Call Of Duty: Advanced Wars, Assassin's Creed Unity, inFamous First Light, Little Big Planet 3 and many others), there will be even more reasons for PS4s to be making the Christmas list around the world.
When you also include the Share Play functionality being released later this year allowing you to share your game with someone else without them having to own it, this is an impressive setup. The game sharing functionality is something that Microsoft have dithered over in the past and it will be interesting to see what their rebuttal will be.
