In an interview with Game Informer, Bethesda's Todd Howard talks about how the game studio have made an Xbox One version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The popular action RPG was released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows back in 2011, but there has not been a newer release for any of the current next-gen consoles.
Technical exercise
In fact, the Xbox One version of Skyrim was the first project that Bethesda embarked upon when they went to start working on Fallout 4. The whole thing was mainly a technical exercise to allow the team to properly gather data before starting development on the new hardware, and thus it is very unlikely that we will get to see the refurbished version of the game. Although when Howard talked about this, he specifically said "Don't get your hopes up yet." which could very well imply that Bethesda hasn't completely shut down the thought of releasing this version to the public.
Backwards compatibility right around the corner
One thing that can easily thwart the release of an Xbox One version of the game is the fact that Microsoft is releasing their backwards compatibility mode for Xbox One very soon. We already know that Bethesda is making Fallout 3 compatible with this after the new functionality releases on the November 9th, and it's not unthinkable that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim also will be added to this list eventually.
Fallout 4 is set to release on November 10th. It is an open world sandbox game like it's predecessor, but this time the trip goes to Boston.
