As my compatriots were in line at the Electronic Arts booth for the latest version of Battlefield, I perused the four offerings being shown off by EA Sports in their booth at E3. The most crowded booth of the three was FIFA. Primarily, this was due to ESPN's coverage of the World Cup that was in progress. But, this provided a rare opportunity to be able to compare the game and reality.
Honestly, there was no comparison. The game had better graphics. Both on HD quality, the real match was fuzzier than the game. The smooth graphics and the way the gameplay worked within the game makes me wonder how will they be able to improve the game for next year.
You can't get much better than reality, but EA accomplished it in FIFA 15. I have only been involved in watching soccer for a few years, having adopted a team in a number of European leagues to follow when Fox Sports had access to all of them. Unfortunately, with La Liga and Serie A unavailable now to me, and Premier League over on NBC Sports, my ability to follow the teams has been much more limited. With FIFA 15, however, I can still play AC Milan, Barcelona, Bayern-Munich, Chelsea, or any one of a number of teams I may be interested in following.
The gameplay is so smooth on the next gen consoles, and the power of the engine behind the scenes makes all of EA Sports' games a joy to watch. FIFA, though, stood out of the four games. I knew a few casters on Senshudo cast FIFA, and I will be interested in seeing their experiences when the game comes out on September 23rd.
