Struggling Sci-Fi MMO Wildstar will be launching under a new Free-To-Play model this fall, NC-Soft announced today, confirming longstanding rumors.
The game will also undergo a massive overhaul to make it "more appealing to everyone". An optional subscription with additional in game perks (TBA) will still be available, dubbed the "Signature Membership". It will reportedly offer in game bonuses to XP, crafting, currency, and item drops but nothing is set in stone as of this writing.
A mico-transaction cash shop will also enter the MMO which will offer both cosmetic and convenience items. The cash shop will not only have items attainable by opening your wallet, but will also feature a currency called "Omnibits". This currency will drop as loot during different encounters in game and can be used to purchase the same content that a person who opens their wallet would receive.
We want to make sure players have the opportunity to buy those things... Obviously it won't be as fast as if you just spent the $5 asking price, but we want people to see that stuff in game, think its cool, and then - if they want to - get it without spending any extra cash.
NC-Soft said that more will be revealed in due time and we will have it for you right here on Senshudo TV!
