Xbox Head Phil Spencer revealed in a blog post today that after 10 years, Microsoft has ceased production on the Xbox 360.

"Xbox 360 means a lot to everyone in Microsoft... And while we’ve had an amazing run, the realities of manufacturing a product over a decade old are starting to creep up on us. Which is why we have made the decision to stop manufacturing new Xbox 360 consoles. We will continue to sell existing inventory of Xbox 360 consoles, with availability varying by country." Spencer said in the blog post.

Spencer did mention that existing hardware will still be supported and that players will still be able to buy Xbox 360 games through the online store. Those with an Xbox One can still play Xbox 360 titles via backwards compatibility.

Spencer also detailed a handful of stats to celebrate the end of the Xbox 360 era; 78 billion hours were spent gaming on the Xbox 360. Players gained 486 billion Gamerscore from 27 billion achievements. Quite the accopmlishment!
